Integrative Health & Wellness Coaching is a holistic approach to integrating new healthier diet and lifestyle changes into your routine in a manner that becomes sustainable for a lifetime.  The focus is on changing poor habits into healthy habits.  Many people have come to believe that habits are difficult to change but really it’s all in how we communicate this message to our brains.  Once we understand the cycle, we can change the narrative.

According to Charles Duhigg in his book The Power of Habit: Why We Do What We Do in Life and Business, habits consist of a simple, but extremely powerful, three-step loop:

First, there is a cue, a trigger that tells your brain to go into automatic mode and which habit to use. Then there is the routine, which can be physical or mental or emotional. Finally, there is a reward, which helps your brain figure out if this particular loop is worth remembering for the future. Over time, this loop… becomes more and more automatic. The cue and reward become intertwined until a powerful sense of anticipation and craving emerges.

To change a habit, you replace the unhealthy routine with a healthy one and still look forward to the same reward. If you want to ensure success with sustaining these changes, you find someone (such as a health coach) to hold you accountable. 

The American Society of Training and Development (ASTD) did a study on accountability and found that you have a 65% chance of completing a goal if you share it with someone you trust and you have a 95% chance of success if you make specific accountability appointments with a person.
